Leipzig, 07/29/2022 – Saxony’s State Secretary for Economic Affairs and Labor, Thomas Kralinski, visited the apo.com Group at its headquarters in Markkleeberg near Leipzig yesterday. There, he toured the site’s highly automated pharmaceutical logistics facility and learned about the future plans of Germany’s third-largest online pharmacy.

In conversation with CEO Dr. Oliver Scheel, Thomas Kralinski got an up-to-date picture of the apo.com Group, which is an important regional employer for pharmacists, logistics specialists and many other professions with around 350 jobs at three locations – 250 of them in Markkleeberg, Saxony.

“The dynamic development of apo.com Group is impressive. The company has succeeded in reaching third place in the German online pharmacy market with its two highly automated pharmaceutical logistics centers in Markkleeberg and Duiven,” said Thomas Kralinski, State Secretary for Labor and Economic Affairs at the Saxon State Ministry of Economics, Labor and Transport. “The numerous jobs created are an important boost for the entire region. The company shows how future power can come from consistent digitization and sustainability by using artificial intelligence in logistics and recyclable materials in shipping products.”

In addition to the robot- and AI-supported processes in logistics, there is more that makes the apo.com Group interesting as an employer: “Our employees are very close to the digitization of the health care system and can actively shape it, for example, via the e-prescription. At the same time, they are currently working closely on the needs of chronically ill patients and can thus create great added value,” says Dr. Oliver Scheel, CEO of the apo.com Group, and thus provides an outlook on the company’s future plans. Because the e-prescription, currently still in the test phase, holds great opportunities – both for the online pharmacy and for patients, whose everyday life should soon be greatly simplified by fast and secure digital prescription processing and accompanying patient-oriented services.
